Is salt bad for you?

Updated: Sep 27

Salt is a necessity to a healthy body!

While the message we sometimes hear is that salt is bad for us, it is important to define your salt. There are key differences between sea salt and refined table salt, which is what most people think of as “salt”.

Most table salt is a refined salt product. What that means is it’s a processed product. If you look up the ingredients in a common iodized table salt, you’ll find that, along with salt (or NaCl) and Calcium Silicate (anti-caking agent), and potassium iodide, there is also Dextrose (aka sugar!).

Sea salt, on the other hand, is solar-dried with its components found in nature. It is full of healthy minerals such as calcium, potassium, magnesium and other critical trace minerals, helps balance electrolytes and fluids in the body, balances pH, contracts and relaxes muscles, and helps with communication between nerve cells.

Our body needs osmotic regulation, and salt is the mechanism to help this process. Osmotic regulation maintains the salt and water balance across membranes within the body’s fluids. This means that it can help alleviate headaches, usher nutrients into cells and help the body stay hydrated.

Premier Pink Salt contains solar-dried salt crystals from the Australian sea and Hawaii, and is enriched with pink “Alaea clay,” which is a mineral-rich volcanic clay.

Salt is an important part of any diet…Sea Salt that is!
